Notes for Mac and iPhone
Stash is for short thoughts, not documents. When an idea comes back days later, add to the thought you already have. Each addition keeps its own date, so you can see how the idea grew.
Could the space under the stairs be a reading nook? Bench seat, one shelf, a wall light. Needs measuring.
Next morning
Measured: 1.9 m long, 74 cm deep at the low end. Room for the bench, not the shelf.

A plug-in wall light with a cloth cable would save chasing a wire into the plaster. · Voice
Next day
Sam can do the joinery in November.
One key opens an empty thought with the cursor already in it. Type, press ⌘↵, and get back to what you were doing. If it belongs with something you wrote last week, choose that thought and it becomes an addition.
⌘N in Stash, or a global shortcut from any other app, opens the capture panel. ⌘↵ keeps the thought; Esc closes the panel and clears it.
Hold Compose to dictate a thought. It's saved as text and marked as voice.
Siri and Shortcuts, a Home Screen widget, a Control Centre button, the share sheet and a browser extension all save straight into Stash.
Stash reads each new thought on your device and puts it in the categories it fits. You never have to pick a folder.
Save a link and Stash keeps its title, picture and description with the thought, along with the reading time, a video's length or a document's page count.
Stash has no account and no server of its own. Thoughts sync through your iCloud, and the clever parts run on your Mac and iPhone. The privacy policy has the details.
On device
Categories and "The thought so far" come from Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent to a cloud AI service.
iCloud
Your notes, links and pictures are stored in iCloud with encrypted fields, between your own devices.
Never lost
Once you press Keep, a crash can't lose the thought, and an edit is saved as you type. Deleting goes to Trash, and an addition made on another device brings a trashed thought back.

Prefer your editor's colours? Catppuccin, Dracula, Gruvbox, Monokai, Nord, One, Rosé Pine, Solarized and Tokyo Night are there too, with matching code highlighting.
Click the Stash button, press ⌃⇧S, or right-click and choose Save to Stash. The page arrives as a thought, with anything you'd selected quoted under the link.
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder.Using Safari? The extension comes with Stash. Turn it on in Safari → Settings → Extensions on your Mac, or Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions on your iPhone.
It's being tested on TestFlight for Mac and iPhone, and needs macOS 27 or iOS 27. A link to join the public beta goes here once Apple approves it.
